Car fire resulted in temporary closure of Slater Road

FERNDALE, Wash. — A Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputy came upon a car fire on Slater Road between Ferndale and Imhof Roads this morning, December 30th, and Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) firefighters were dispatched to the scene about 9:40am.

According to WCFD7 Fire Chief Larry Hoffman, no one was injured in the incident but the 2004 BMW was a total loss.

Slater Road was closed between Ferndale and Imhof Roads for almost an hour due to high winds at the time that were blowing flames and smoke across the road while first responders dealt with the incident according to Hoffman.
