According to radio dispatches at least one person was sent to the hospital as a result of a three-car accident just east of the I-5 overpass on Main Street about 5:30pm, July 30th.
According to Ferndale Police Sergeant John VanderYacht, witnesses saw a vehicle traveling north on I-5 at a high rate of speed. It exited at Main Street and then failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Main Street and Barrett Road where it collided with eastbound traffic that had the green light and was already in the intersection.
Witnesses also told police the suspect driver got out of his vehicle and asked if anyone had seen the unicorn.
Determination whether the suspect driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol was not available.
