A vehicle occupied by a person with an arrest warrant for escape from the Washington Department of Corrections was slow to pull over when signaled to by a Ferndale detective. At one point the detective radioed the person was “attempting to elude.”
Detective Pike began signaling for the driver to pull over about 3:15pm today, August 5th, while southbound on I-5. Instead the driver exited at Main Street and headed west on Main Street. They turned onto LaBounty Drive and reportedly reached speeds nearing 50mph. Then, as soon as it started, the driver pulled into Ferndale Lube on LaBounty Drive and stopped.
According to witnesses, seeing a County Sheriff vehicle coming toward them may have influenced their decision to pull off the road. A police K-9 unit was later requested to search for drugs.
Based on radio transmissions it appears at least one person was taken to the jail and the vehicle was towed.
