This is part three of a four-part series of articles provided by the Ferndale Police Department.

The holidays are a season to spend time with friends and family, of giving to others, and to give thanks for what we have. Holiday cheer seems to be everywhere. With the holidays fast approaching, the Ferndale Police Department would like to pass on a few tips to help everyone have the wonderful holiday season they deserve.

Travel Safety
Getting out on the road anytime soon? Well, so is everyone else.  Whether it’s for work, running errands, shopping for the holidays, going to visit loved ones, or connecting with friends at the next Christmas party, people will be out driving.

Obviously, traffic safety and utilizing defensive driving techniques are important at all times, but can be even more so this time of year.  Always be aware or your surroundings and obey the rules of the road.  Pay attention to the weather conditions and the potential for ice on the roadway.

Be mindful of others who may not be obeying the rules of the road, to include intoxicated drivers. And please, do not drink and drive.
