A body of a male discovered after washing ashore on Neptune Beach in Sandy Point has been identified according to a news release issued by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office today.

The body was found by a beachcomber walking the beach on Sunday, July 22nd. Later, WCSO officials said they were working with other agencies, including Canadian, to determine the identity of the body. Due to information shared about unique tattoos, WCSO, Delta Police and the Whatcom County Medical Examiner’s Officer were able to identify the man as 47-year-old Kuljit “Steve” Boparai from Richmond, BC.

Boparai went missing on April 25th when it was believed he fell off of a houseboat moored along the Fraser River in the 3400 block of River Road in Ladner, British Columbia. An exhaustive search over several days by the Delta Police Department, Canadian Coast Guard and the RCMP failed to locate the Boparai at the time of his disappearance.

There were no signs of foul play uncovered during the investigation and the death has been determined to be accidental.
