City asked to review site plan for proposed fast food restaurant on Barrett Road

During July of last year, Ferndale Denny’s Restaurant franchisees announced they were closing the restaurant at 5720 Barrett Road.

Recently, documents from GPD Group, on behalf of Northwest Restaurants, Inc., were submitted for review by City of Ferndale staff regarding a proposed project to demolish the existing Denny’s Restaurant building and build a “2,700 SF quick serve Mexican restaurant, with associated parking and drive-thru services,” on the site.

Additional details in the documents submitted to the City identify the brand expected to occupy the new building as Taco Bell.

The project site is adjacent to the Ferndale McDonalds who recently began an interior remodel.

I’m so tired of all the junk food options around whatcom county. We don’t need another one….what we need are some decent restaurants like cracker barrel, lone star steak house and the like. I really wish someone would listen.

We DO NOT need any more fast food places on Ferndale. What we need is a nice family type restaurant where people can go & have a nice quiet meal American meal.

I so agree with you. We don’t need another Fast food chain restaurant in Ferndale. All this town has are banks, resterauntsand bars of some sort. Geezers! I’d like to see a mall. We really don’t have much shopping in Ferndale always having to go to Bellingham for the majority of shopping for pretty much anything.

In case anyone from Northwest Restaurants Inc reads this… We’d love to have a Taco Bell and a Long John Silver’s and a KFC here in Blaine.
