webcam traffic on main street 01-06-2015According to an article on The Bellingham Herald website:

Drivers in this city [Ferndale] wanting to avoid a ticket should stop relying on speed limit signs, because most of them are going away.

City Council voted 5-0 at its Monday, May 18, meeting to reduce the number of speed limit signs, thinking the city could save money normally devoted to maintaining and replacing current signs. The motion carried on the condition that the Ferndale Police Department will sign off on the location of the remaining signs.

In the comments, Ferndale city staff and Mayor Gary Jensen have clarified further:
Staff- This will be a public process and we definitely be seeking feedback as we move forward with this effort.
Mayor Jensen- We will have lots of input before we remove a sign.

As of the writing of this article it has not been explained how or when public input will be collected.

Apologies for the change, but we are unable to staff the Center for this Tuesday. We hope to pre-pack bags for the Other Bank which can be handed out at the door. This will minimize contact. ... See MoreSee Less
