As many schools are closing buildings and resorting to online-based classes due to COVID-19 concerns, Internet service provider Comcast announced today they will make their low-cost internet access service free for qualified low-income customers for 60 days.
As the country deals with the effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Comcast is taking immediate steps to help connect more low-income families to the Internet at home. Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, new Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service. We are also increasing the speed of the program to 25 Mbps downloads, and 3 Mbps uploads for all new and existing customers.Comcast Essentials announcement (March 13, 2020).
There is nothing new applicants have to do to take advantage of the offer. Anyone who qualifies for Internet Essentials will automatically receive their first 2 months of service for free (except for taxes). After 2 months they will begin to be billed at regular Internet Essentials rate of $9.95+tax unless they cancel the service. There is no contract or penalty for cancelling. Click here to apply.
