Crash closes Lk Terrell Road, sends 2 to hospital

Aid and law enforcement personnel were dispatched to a report of a 2-car crash in the 4600 block of Lake Terrell Road today, May 10th, about 8:50am.

Whatcom County Fire District 17 Fire Chief Jim Petrie said they needed to use a hydraulic rescue tool known as the “Jaws of Life” to extricate one of the drivers. That driver and their passenger were both transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center under advanced life support protocol (ALS) due to their injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was assessed by medics and released at the scene Petrie said.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman said the crash involved a white Toyota Avalon and a Nissan Murano. Both vehicles suffered heavy front-end damage and required being towed from the scene.

The cause of the crash had not been officially released as of the publication of this story.
