Crash sends 1 to jail and another to the hospital

A single-vehicle crash on Marine Drive around 6am this morning has put 1 person in the hospital and another behind bars.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) reported this morning Taleishar R Bob, age 37, of Bellingham, had been booked into the Whatcom County Jail charged with suspicion of vehicular assault after the vehicle she had been driving struck a power pole, injuring her passenger.

According to the WSP, Bob was driving a white 2005 Saturn Vue westbound in the 1700 block of Marine Drive when it crossed the eastbound lane, left the roadway and struck a power pole. The Saturn came to rest in the eastbound lane facing south.

The 40-year-old male passenger was reported by the WSP to have been transported from the crash scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.

According to Whatcom County Jail records, Bob was charged with suspicion of vehicular assault, 3rd degree driving on a suspended license and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock.
