Candidate’s submitted biography (unedited):

My name is Erin Gunter.  I have lived in Ferndale for 20 years.  We moved here from Bellingham in 1999 because we wanted to raise our children in Ferndale.  Volunteering in my community has always been important to me.  Started with being a Big Sister for Big Sisters/Brothers of  Whatcom County while attending WWU.  Then I went on to Whatcom Crisis Hotline helping people in crisis.  When my oldest started preschool I become a board member during his 2nd year and then went on to be President of Eagleridge and then Horizon PTO while my kids were enrolled there.  Currently I am on the Makayla Jam Board and I am the Team Captain for Relay for Life for my work team.  Through all of these roles I have learned about our community, how to work with others to get things done, and deal with all kinds of personalities.

I feel it is important to be involved in my community.  Each new challenge I take on I ask questions, research and do my best to learn all sides of the issue at hand.  Even though this is my first time running for city council I feel I am ready to tackle  the issues our city faces.
