Ferndale 12U Cal Ripken team wins quarterfinal match at World Series

The following was submitted to Discover Ferndale by Ferndale 12U Cal Ripken Team Manager Bill Hatchett:


Ferndale beat Ohio Valley regional champions, Crownpoint, Indiana, 12 to 2 in the quarterfinals of the World Series. 

Ferndale bats were hot with 10 hits in the game, including four homeruns. Isaiah Carlson, Andrew James, Jordan Mason, and Jacob Mason all hit homeruns in the game.

Dylan Strom and Landen Hatchett teamed up to pitch against Crownpoint, giving up only two hits and two runs. Dylan Strom earned the win from the mound.

We will play in the semi finals Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 PM ET (2:30pm PT) against the New England regional champions, Washington Park from Rhode Island.


The Ferndale 12U Cal Ripken team made it to the Cal Ripken World Series in Clemmons, North Carolina, after earning championships in recent State and Regional tournaments.

In World Series pool play, Ferndale beat Clemmons, North Carolina, the Southeast region champion, 10 to 4, earlier today and beat the Midwest plains region, Galena Kansas, 15 to 1 in the third pool play game Sunday. Last week, they came back beat Southwest region champion, Clark County Arkansas, 15 to 0, after a 7 to 1 loss against Middle Atlantic region champion, Cedar Cliff. Their 3 and 1 record in pool play gained them a second seed in the Americans pool going into the championship bracket.
