Eagleridge Elementary was honored to have at least 25 veterans as guests at their Veteran’s Day Assembly. Each one had an opportunity to tell the audience their name and the branch of the military in which they served. Students presented each veteran with a small token of appreciation.

Skyline students honored veterans with an assembly today. Among the veterans honored was their principal, Mr. Tipton. Ms. Pennylegion interviewed the veterans in the audience and Ms. George sang the Star Spangled Banner. Students sang the songs of all five branches of the military.

At Central Elementary School’s Veteran’s Day assembly on Friday, local veterans were honored and given red poppies made by the students. Music teacher Denice Saxman led the students in song and the 5th grade classes gave reports on each of the branches of the military. Students dressed in red, white and blue clothing to honor our flag.

THANK YOU, VETERANS.

This morning, Cascadia Elementary School students “Saluted Our Veterans” during a ceremony held at Greenacres Memorial Park. Under the direction of music teacher Bev Dooley, students performed “The Star Spangled Banner” and “Thinking of You.” The Fifth Grade Recorder Ensemble played “Amazing Grace.” Several students provided “Our Heroes” readings.

Special Guest Randy Cross spoke to those in attendance about the “Goodness of America. What is America? America is an idea.” He spoke the words of Thomas Jefferson, “That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Cross asked students to think about what they can do to honor a veteran; a handshake, a smile or a friendly greeting is all it takes.

Members of American Legion Post 7 (Bellingham) provided a 21 Gun Salute and the playing of “Taps.”

Most of all, students “thanked” our veterans and scattered about the cemetery grounds placing Old Glory on the gravemarkers of veterans.
