Washington State Patrol (WSP) report Cody S. Hodges, a 37-year-old Ferndale man, died today at the scene of a crash between the pickup truck he was driving and a semi trailer.
WSP Trooper Heather Axtman said a witness reported the pickup truck had been doing 100mph prior to arriving at the roundabout at East Badger and Northwood Roads where it ended up wedged under the trailer.
The crash occurred just before 3pm and initial reports described the pickup’s cab as having been sheared off.
The WSP issued a report this evening saying the 1996 Chevrolet C25 pickup was southbound on Northwood Road at a high rate of speed. The semi trailer was westbound on West Badger Road (SR546) when the pickup drove into the roundabout and underneath the semi trailer.
The driver of the 2013 Peterbuilt semi tractor, Gilles M. Limoges, age 53, of Morinville, Alberta, was uninjured according to the WSP.
The Hodges was not wearing his seatbelt according to the WSP report.
The investigation is continuing and whether drugs or alcohol were involved is not known.
