5 people were injured and 1 is dead after a 3-vehicle crash Sunday, November 5th, on State Route 203 near Monroe, Washington.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) report the crash occurred 1 mile south of Monroe, Washington about 2:45pm on Sunday, November 5th. According to a WSP press memo, Paul Carlson, age 48, of Ferndale was driving a red 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 flatbed pickup southbound on SR203. Carlson was behind Robert Allender, age 79, who was also southbound in a beige 1981 Toyota pickup.
When the Toyota slowed to make a left turn into a private driveway, it was rear-ended by the Dodge, pushing it into the path of a northbound black 2008 Honda Fit hatchback driven by Syon McClure, age 19, and the Honda struck the Toyota.
Allender was later declared deceased at Providence Hospital.
McClure was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Allender’s passenger and three passengers in McClure’s car were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Carlson was not injured.
The crash and possible charges remain under investigation according to the WSP. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have been involved.
