Ferndale man jailed on suspicion of child molestation

FERNDALE, Wash. — Ferndale Police responded to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center to investigate a report of a sexual assault on a child who lives in Ferndale on September 13th according to an affidavit of probable cause statement submitted in Whatcom County Superior Court.

After interviewing medical staff and the victim’s friends and family, Ferndale Police suspected there were possibly 2 victims, both under the age of 5 and the assaults could have occurred any time during a period of several months according to the affidavit.

On September 17th, Ferndale Police arrested and charged Alexander Eugene Ross, age 46, with suspicion of child molestation in the first degree according to Whatcom County Jail records. Ross was booked into jail and, as of September 28th, remained in custody pending $70,000 bail or $7,000 cash bond as set by the court during a preliminary appearance on September 18th.

Subsequently on September 24th, Bellingham Police arrested and transported Linda Ross, age 48, to the Ferndale Police Department. She was booked into Whatcom County Jail by Ferndale Police charged with suspicion of 2 counts of intimidating a witness. Linda is Alexander’s sister according to Ferndale Police and is accused of making threats to kill or physically harm witnesses regarding the case against him. Linda was released pending arraignment after posting a $750 cash bond.
