Ferndale man sent to Harborview after I-5 rollover crash

Washington State Patrol (WSP) say a Ferndale man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to injuries sustained in a rollover crash on I-5 in Skagit County late Tuesday, December 18th.

According to a WSP press memo, William Elfo, age 27, was traveling northbound on I-5 when the white 2002 Subaru Legacy he was driving went into the median near the off-ramp to Alger at milepost 240 about 11:15pm. Elfo attempted to drive out of the median, causing the Subaru to roll over across both lanes. The Subaru came to rest in the gore point, the striped area between the off-ramp and the main traffic lanes.

It was unknown, according to the WSP, whether Elfo was wearing a seatbelt or if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The Subaru was considered a total loss and impounded.
