Ferndale man’s arrest results from Florida child porn investigation

FERNDALE, Wash. — The City of Ferndale announced today, February 20th, the Ferndale Police Department had arrested James M Marriott, age 18, after he had been identified as a result of a St Cloud Florida Police Department investigation.

The following was released by the Ferndale Police Department:

On 02/19/2020 Ferndale Police Department arrested James M. Marriott (05/04/2001) for viewing, possessing, and distributing child pornography. Marriott was identified through an investigation by the St. Cloud Florida Police Department and that information was shared through the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. With the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security, the Ferndale Police Department obtained and served a search warrant on Marriott and his property. 

The search warrant resulted in evidence of Marriott viewing, distributing, and possessing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.  Marriott was interviewed and admitted to using an online application to send child pornographic images. He also admitted storing images on his phone and on online servers.

James M. Marriott was booked into the Whatcom County Jail.

According to Whatcom County Jail records, Marriott was charged with 3 counts of suspicion of viewing, possessing and distributing child pornography. As of this morning, he remained in custody without bail and is scheduled to make a preliminary appearance in Whatcom County Superior Court this afternoon.
