FERNDALE, Wash. — The couple found dead in their Timmerman Lane residence Wednesday, August 7th, have been identified as Patricia A Whitney-Jones, age 76, and Brian S Jones, age 77.

Whatcom County Medical Examiner Gary Goldfogel provided the victims’ identity. Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed via email today that next of kin notification had been accomplished.

Goldfogel said both died as a result of gunshot wounds inflicted using a small caliber semi-automatic handgun. Her cause of death was attributed to homicide and his to suicide. Goldberg noted via email both victims had “advanced age and significant natural health disease conditions” and suicide notes were recovered.

Law enforcement were dispatched to the residence in the 6500 block of Timmerman Lane after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a man who said law enforcement would find his and his wife’s bodies inside.
