Several Ferndale neighbors reported to have been at the outdoor concert Sunday night in Las Vegas when a gunman opened fire from a room on the 32nd floor in an adjacent building. More than 50 people are reported to have died and over 500 injured as a result of the shooting.
One neighbor has been reported to have been injured. Melinda “Mia” Brockie was at the concert with her husband when she was shot. According to various media interviews with family members, Brockie remains hospitalized but is expected to recover from her injuries.
Two other Ferndale neighbors, Jeff and Deanna Bannerman, told Seattle-based KING 5 TV about what they experienced as they realized they and the rest of the Las Vegas outdoor concert crowd were under fire and their struggle to help the injured while getting themselves to safety.
