Fire Chief: Burn ban scheduled for Sandy Point area

Whatcom County Fire District 17 Fire Chief Jim Petrie says to expect a burn ban to go into effect Monday, July 9th, at 8am in the Sandy Point area.

Petrie said in an email this morning,

Effective Monday, July 9th, 2018 at 8:00 am all land clearing and yard debris fires in Whatcom County Fire District #17 (Sandy Point) are hereby suspended. This burn ban is due to dry conditions and will remain in effect until further notice. Recreational camp fires no larger than 3 feet in diameter are still permitted if they meet fire district regulations.

Whatcom County Fire District 17 serves Sandy Point Shores, Sandy Point Heights, Neptune Heights, Neptune Beach and western portions of the Lummi Indian Reservation.
