Flags to fly at half-staff in memory of former Police Chief Knapp

City of Ferndale Mayor Jon Mutchler has directed the flag of the United States is to be flown at half-staff at city hall and all public buildings and grounds today, November 7th, in memory of former Ferndale Police Chief Michael Knapp. Knapp passed away yesterday at age 79 after being injured in a vehicle-pedestrian collision in Lynden on Tuesday, November 5th.

Today’s announcement from the City said the flag-lowering is “a mark of respect for the memory and longstanding service of Michael Knapp, former police chief of the City of Ferndale who was fatally injured in the line of duty while serving the City of Lynden.”

Flags are to remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on the yet to be announced date of Knapp’s interment.
