Friday evening, as the sun was setting, What-Comm 9-1-1 received a call of flames visible atop a Ferndale downtown building.
Ferndale Police officers and Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) firefighters immediately responded to 2013 Main Street, a currently vacant building. A police officer was first to arrive and reported there was no sign of smoke or fire. WCFD7 firefighters arrived and surveyed the area seeing the same, no flames or smoke.
It was eventually agreed the caller’s perspective of the building placed evening’s fiery sunset behind it, giving the appearance of flames coming from the top of the building.

What’s happening at the police station? Big hose from upper parking lot manhole to lower manhole and even bigger temporary tankage???
Have requested information from the COF Public Works Director. May be able to get details before tonight’s council meeting. Hopefully will have a story here about it shortly.
