Flooding Possible

national weather serviceThe National Weather Service has warned that minor flooding is a possibility as a result of heavy rains expected this week.

The first two heavy rain events are expected Thursday day and then Thursday night. Rain events will continue in waves through Monday resulting in a forecasted 5-day total of 1 to 4 inches in the lowlands and a more substantial 10 to 13 inches in the mountains.

If that amount fell in a shorter period, there would be major widespread flooding but given that this is spread across five days there is less concern.

Debris and water on roads around Ferndale are still likely as the result of surface water such as has occurred after recent rains even without any river flooding. Discover Ferndale will post information regarding road closures and other local driving advisories if that occurs.
