Neighbors noticed when the long driveway to a residence on Church Road filled with a variety of law enforcement vehicles back on January 13th. At the time, due to an ongoing investigation, all that could be said was a search warrant had been served.
Bellingham Police spokesperson Danette Beckley revealed this week the search warrant was related to a burglary at a Bellingham business. The suspect in the burglary, Jason R. Boone, age 45, was known to visit a person living at the residence in the 6600 block of Church Road.
Property stolen in the burglary was recovered from the residence during the search according to Beckley.
According to jail records Boone was arrested in Bellingham on January 12th and booked into Whatcom County Jail charged with 2 counts of burglary and 2 drug related charges. Boone, according to court documents, is suspected of burglarizing two Bellingham businesses, The Daisy Cafe on October 17, 2016 and Best Buds Gaming Lounge (under construction at the time) on October 25, 2016. He has also been charged with burglarizing another Bellingham business, The Elephant in the Room, on January 11th.
Boone is currently out of custody after posting a $30,000 bond. He pled not guilty to the charges and is scheduled for a jury trial in March.
