FERNDALE, Wash. — Forecasters are in agreement on 2 things in today’s weather forecast. There likely will be some snow or snow/rain mix and they do not know when nor how much.
A very wet system has moved into the area this morning bringing lots of rain. Later today, a cold air mass is expected to work its way into the area and bring with it lower snow levels.
As of 7am, the temperatures around the Ferndale area were about 40°. Local temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-30s and that is when probability for snow increases.
However, there isn’t any cold air in place and the ground is not cold so it will be hard for accumulations to develop on the roads. We probably won’t really know how this will all shake out until the event is underway. For now the main messaging will be possible snow for the lowlands later today but minimal accumulations and impacts. That could change of course.
