Freezing temperatures create potential for hazardous road conditions

Most of the Ferndale area was spared significant snow accumulation yesterday and overnight. But what moisture is on the ground is likely frozen as temperatures are expected to remain near or below freezing until Thursday.

Ferndale Public Works crews have been out since 5am this morning sanding roads within the city limits where needed according to Public Works Supervisor Bo Westford. “We dried out better than the north and east County,” Westford said.

North Ferndale areas that saw up to two inches of snow yesterday may not fare as well.

Drivers and pedestrians should be alert to the potential for black ice, a thin and transparent coating of glaze ice.
