7:25am: Good morning. Temperatures are in the upper teens around the Ferndale area under clear skies with gusty winds from the north. Air quality is being reported in the GOOD range. Last night’s low was 18° (current temperature).
A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the San Juan Islands and western Whatcom County lowlands until noon. Gusts to just over 40mph have been recorded near Ferndale High School and to 56mph at Sandy Point. Wind speeds this high combined with temperatures in the 20s will result in wind chill readings in the single digits.
While conditions around the area can be extremely challenging due to snow and ice accumulations, commute routes in and out of Ferndale are currently open with no visible surprises. Check the real-time DF traffic cams page to view commute time estimates anytime by clicking here.
