Friendship Community Garden plots available

The Ferndale Friendship Community Garden (FFCG) has begun renting plots for the 2019 growing season.

Residents from the greater Ferndale community are eligible to rent 25 garden plots and 10 hoop-house plots to plant and harvest their own vegetables. The garden is located on Ferndale Road, just south of the Star Park parking lot.

Plots rent on a sliding scale of $10 to $20 for the entire growing season plus a $10 refundable cleaning deposit. Anyone interested is asked to contact FFCG garden coordinator Gloria Perez by phone at 360-223-3836 or by email to rainglo@comcast.net.

Residents from the greater Ferndale community also maintain a community garden that provides fresh food for the Ferndale food bank. According to Perez, they donated over 5,000 pounds of fresh produce to the Ferndale Food Bank in 2018.

Perez said she is also currently looking for an assistant garden manager. “This would be an opportunity for someone to meet Ferndale residents and learn about how a community garden operates,” Perez said.
