Heavy mountain rain forecast results in Areal Flood Watch

FERNDALE, Wash. — The National Weather Service Seattle office is concerned about heavy rains over the north Cascades and has issued an Areal Flood Watch this afternoon as a result

The Flood Watch for Whatcom County warns of minor flooding of the Nooksack River is possible beginning tonight, October 21st, and continuing into Tuesday. This would be the result of heavy rain over the north Cascades today and tonight which would result in significant rise in the river level according to the alert.

The 3:45pm river level forecast says to expect the Nooksack River to crest at Ferndale at just past the 14-foot mark about 4pm tomorrow, Tuesday. Historically, road and property impacts have occurred when the river reaches the 15-foot mark.
