Hempler Foods Group recalls pepperoni product

Hempler Foods Group, LLC is recalling approximately 4,068 pounds of pepperoni sticks products after some were reported to contain small metal pieces.

The Ferndale meat processer is recalling pepperoni stick items produced on October 10, 2017 and shipped to eastern Washington retail locations in 2.25-pound vacuum-packed packages labelled, “HEMPLER’S FAMILY CLASSIC PEPPERONI NATURAL SMOKE FLAVORING ADDED” according to a US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) new release issued yesterday. They are specifically labeled with a “packed on” date of 10/10/2017, case code 59716 and establishment number “EST. 6410” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Hempler issued the recall after receiving 3 reports of small metal pieces in the pepperoni products. According to FSIS, “There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.”

FSIS also advised, “Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
