UPDATE: This High Wind Watch was replaced by a Wind Advisory.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle has issued a High Wind Watch which will be in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

According to the statement issued 3:30pm today, Bellingham, Ferndale and the San Islands will be impacted with the strongest winds near the coastline. Northeast winds developing out of the Fraser Valley outflow are expected to bring sustained northeast winds of 30 to 35mph with gusts of 50mph or higher.

Temperatures in the area are expected to drop below freezing Sunday night and stay there for several days. The potential for local power outages due to high winds should be planned for in light of these forecast temperatures.
