Hovander Homestead Park to reopen after flooding closure

FERNDALE, Wash. — Officials with Whatcom County Parks & Recreation announced this afternoon they will be reopening Hovander Homestead Park, including Tennant Lake Interpretive Center and the Fragrance Garden, and boat launch tomorrow, Saturday, February 8th at 8am.

The park was closed Friday, January 31st in anticipation of the Nooksack River reaching moderate flood stage during the upcoming weekend. The river ultimately crested Sunday morning at 20.9 feet.

Flood damage cleanup and repair efforts are still underway and park trails and playgrounds will remain closed until repairs can be made.
