How would you vote on upcoming City Council agenda item(s)?

FERNDALE, Wash. — The members of the Ferndale City Council are scheduled to meet Monday, February 1st, at 5pm via online videoconference for a regular meeting of the whole council.

There are 3 items on the agenda for discussion by the council along with some items on the consent agenda that are expected to be approved without discussion. They include

  • approval of the last City Council meeting minutes
  • authorization of the COF January payroll

The first item being brought forward for discussion and approval are the claims (payments made by the City) for December and for the “open period” to close out any outstanding obligations for 2020. This is something typically handled by the Finance and Administration Council Committee but committee meetings were canceled last week to make room for a council retreat session.

Councilmembers will also be asked to approve updating (as has been done every few years) the Ferndale Municipal Code so it will be aligned with the 2018 versions of the International Building Code, Uniform Plumbing Code and Washington State Energy Code and amendments to the Washington State Building Code.

The Council will be asked to approve Mayor Greg Hansen’s appointments to the Planning Commission (to replace Councilmember Maralise Fegan who resigned her position when appointed to the Council) and the Arts Commission. They are:

  • Brent Bode of Ferndale – Planning Commission
  • Krystal Koop of Ferndale – Arts Commision

The remainder of the meeting agenda is made up of presentations by City staff.

Regular City Council meetings are being held using an online video conference format in conformance with the state’s COVID-19 physical distancing health safety mandate.
