Lombard, according to the article, began his rugby career in 1969 at the college level. His talent, hard-hitting style and love for the game made him a stand-out player on and off the field. Later he took the position team manager for the U.S. national team and also the U.S. national team alumni club, doing so while running his Ferndale sporting goods store.
Lombard is currently co-coach of the WWU rugby club.
