The Ferndale area forecast calls for scattered snow showers this morning, Tuesday, January 1st, turning to partly to mostly cloudy this afternoon.

There is a wet system moving south from British Columbia that crossed the border about 8am. This, combined with temperatures in the low 30s, could provide the right formula for a brief occurrence of frozen precipitation in the northern interior, including the Ferndale area this morning.

National Weather Service Seattle office forecasters say the same can be expected for tomorrow morning.

Temperatures in the interior of Western Whatcom county Wednesday morning may be cool enough that precipitation may begin as snow or a rain/snow mix before changing over to rain.
