Karen Burke is running to become your next Whatcom County Executive. Since 2007, Karen has worked as the Executive Director of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County (DVSAS). During her tenure, she tripled revenues and expanded programs across the county. Karen previously worked with Lummi Nation for eight years as the Director of the Lummi Nation Tribal Court where she helped to develop and manage restorative justice and diversion programs such as the Lummi Drug Court and the Lummi Juvenile Justice Project. Karen is a proud graduate of Western Washington University and the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs at their Executive Leadership Institute. As County Executive, Karen will bring strong leadership, trusted partnerships, and decisive action to foster a healthy, safe, and equitable Whatcom County for all who live here.
