Letter to the Editor: Wonders who legislators are working for

I notice that the State salary commission has just raised the base salary of our part-time legislators to $58,000 per year. That means for the even year’s short session of 60 days their yearly salary based on $58,000 for 60 days would be $356,000 if they worked full time and in the odd years with the 110 day session their salary would be $177,000 if they worked full time. This, of course, does not include their per-diem pay. Not bad for a part time job that they choose to do to serve the citizens. I begin to wonder who they are working for.
