Local firefighters are making free cotton masks available to the public

FERNDALE, Wash. — Cotton masks are available for free to those in need courtesy of Whatcom 7 Firefighters. The masks can be picked up between 8am and 4pm in bins outside the front door at Fire Station 41, located at 2020 Washington Street.

The masks are available in 4 sizes and have been washed and individually wrapped. Sizes include youth, adult small, adult standard and adult large. People are asked to only take what they need.

Whatcom 7 Firefighters Union President Jeff Sluys said the masks have been provided though a partnership with the Ferndale School District, Correll Park Mask Angels, Firefighter Community Service Fund and Whatcom 7 Firefighters Union. Sluys said this joint effort is intended to keep people healthy.

Sluys said they can produce approximately 100 masks of each size weekly until money to pay for more material runs out.
