This letter is in response to a previous letter to the editor entitled, “County plan is killing Cherry Point growth.“
I am sorry to hear that Cherry Point Refinery is receiving so many restrictions from the Whatcom County Council that the refinery cannot remain solvent while complying with the onerous regulations. This situation would not have happened if Tony Larson had been elected as Whatcom County Executive instead of Satpal Sidhu. We voters really dropped the ball by allowing such foolish people to remain in office–people who dream up and enforce regulations like these. They actually do not want us to live and thrive.
I would like to ask Cherry Point Refinery what practical steps shall we take to help them?
Mrs. Doris Smith
