LTTE: Privilege to watch own children perform in FHS theatre

Published [post_published]

The Ferndale High School theater program is truly a hidden gem. We are very lucky to have the dynamic duo of Rachel Pringle and Crissy Ford at the helm training young people to perform at the highest levels and giving our community quality performances throughout the year.

In addition to enjoying plays and musicals at Ferndale High with my family, it has been our immense privilege to watch some of our own children perform throughout the years. We recall fondly Emma performing in West Side Story, Analise in Pirates of Penzance, and Nick in too many to list! My children have learned important life lessons, developed wonderful performance skills, gained greater confidence, embraced quality friends, and nurtured their talents and interest in the arts. I am very grateful that they got to do all this right here in Ferndale.

Pringle and Ford have announced that they are currently producing My Fair Lady which Ferndale community members will get to see at the end of February. I hear that this is a first for this production at FHS – knowing the grandeur of this particular musical and the talent of our wonderful student actors – it is sure to be another not-to-miss show. And yes, a Mutchler or two will be in it!

Thank you to the students and staff who have worked so hard to get ready for this production. We are so thankful for our wonderful Ferndale High School Theater program. Truly an asset in our community!

It is such a gift to the kids to have the privilege and opportunity to perform in the musicals. And the time that the directors, prop artists, costume and make-up artists and musicians put into practice along with the kids is astounding! I played Eliza Doolittle in our production of My Fair Lady my sophomore year in high school and it was the time of my life. (Also played Julie Jordan in Carousel my senior year.) At class reunions, they are still remembered – even after all of these years! Enjoy sharing your talent and the spotlight everyone. And break a leg!
