It’s nice that the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce supports public schools [link added by editor], but the stance seems almost like a lecture to you taxpaying ne’er-do-wells who don’t want your taxes to increase.
Public schools have real competition, very successful home schooling, private schools, that provide great educations. The tide is turning away from the narrow focus that public schools can have, people want choices and that’s what really makes a strong well functioning community. The voters spoke – pay attention. There are limits to what wage-earning tax payers want to have to pay for, when they are not convinced there is a community reward to experience.
