Policing needs to change. We need to stop investing in and using militarized vehicles and mass incarceration. Instead, we need to think about community care that gets people in crisis the things they need: housing, access to treatment, a therapist, job training to get back on their feet.
In 2019 Sharon Shewmake helped our county build a crisis triage facility supported by Barry Buchanan and Bill Elfo. Sharon is committed to this work that saves money and treats people better.
Sharon Shewmake is running for re-election to be our representative in the State legislature. Please support Sharon by voting for her in the primary in August and again in November.
