Puget Sound Energy (PSE) reported power had been lost to most of the residents and businesses on Lummi Island tonight. In addition, it was reported CenturyLink telephone customers on the island had lost the ability to access 911 services.

PSE reported the power outage began about 8:30pm this evening, Sunday, February 3rd, and impacted 940 of their customers. No cause was cited but powerful winds had begun blowing through the area this evening. As of 9:50pm it was estimated that power would be restored by 10:30pm.

Officials at the What-Comm 911 dispatch center reported about 9:45pm that CenturyLink land line telephones on Lummi Island were unable to call 911 and CenturyLink was working on the problem. No estimate was given for when service might be restored. Lummi Island residents were advised to use a cellphone if they needed to call 911.
