Mayor Jon Mutchler recently took to Facebook to announce a planned compact roundabout at the intersection of Portal Way and northbound I-5 on- and off-ramps.
A long-awaited expected solution to traffic backing up onto I-5 during peak traffic times will be completed around August according to the Mayor. “This should make Exit 263 more attractive to commuters and ease up some use on Main Street,” Mutchler said on Facebook.
An existing full-size roundabout is already in place at the southbound on- and off-ramps on Portal Way.
Three compact roundabouts have been implemented on Slater Road at the I-5 interchange.
Mutchler says the cost will be “some $300,000.”
