Meet the Candidates for Mayor of the City of Ferndale

This year voters will be asked to choose a new mayor. This article, the third in a series (read first and second articles), looks at the five candidates running for Mayor of the City of Ferndale.

More than two candidates are vying for that position so there will be a primary election in August to bring this down to two candidates who be on the general election ballot in November.

Two events are being held this week enabling the public to meet and learn more about the candidates. There’s an informal “meet and greet” at the library on Tuesday and a question-and-answer forum Wednesday at the Senior Activity Center. The public are welcome at both.

Gary Jensen is the incumbent (currently holds the position) but he has announced he is not running for re-election. Instead, Jensen is a candidate for Port Commissioner. Vying for the position of mayor are Carol Bersch, Manuel Reta, Jon Mutchler, Vicca Thompson and Cathy Watson
