Officials with the Ferndale School District said a Vista Middle School student was arrested today by Ferndale Police on suspicion of 3 counts of felony harassment related to threats against other Vista students.

District officials said they contacted law enforcement for assistance in investigating the threats and as a result of the investigation, one student was identified and charged. “At no point were Vista students and staff in danger in the building today,” a district announcement said.

“All the right things happened here. We ask families and students to partner with us to report suspicious or threatening behavior. That happened in this case,” Vista Middle School Principal Heather Leighton is quoted as saying in the announcement.

Administrators at Vista Middle School spoke with staff about the incident this afternoon and an email to Vista Middle School parents is expected to go out this evening.
