Motorcycle crash at Portal Way roundabout sends 1 to the hospital

FERNDALE, Wash. — Whatcom County Fire District 7 and Ferndale Police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash in the Portal Way roundabout at the southbound I-5 on- and off-ramps about 3:40pm today, July 27th.

One person was down as a result of the collision between two motorcycles. Ferndale Police Sergeant Kevin Davis said it appeared they were riding alongside of each other and “bumped,” causing the 1 rider to go down.

Police worked to keep traffic flowing through the roundabout while WCFD7 personnel treated the patient at the scene. The adult male rider was transported by an aid car to PeaceHealth St Joseph Hospital with a minor leg injury according to WCFD7 Division Chief Ben Boyko.

Both riders were from out of the area and visiting when the crash occurred according to Boyko
