FERNDALE, Wash. — In January 2019, the building at 2008 Main Street was sold to Jae Kim according to Whatcom County Assessor’s Office records. Tenants reported being asked to vacate by November of last year since the new owner was making other plans for the building.

This week, City of Ferndale staff approved a commercial tenant improvement permit application to remodel the interior as a restaurant.

According to documents submitted to the City with the permit application, plans are to open Oyiso Teriyaki Restaurant in the building’s ground floor.

Whatcom County Assessor’s Office records indicate the 2400-square-foot building was built in 1920.
