There are residential developments in the Ferndale area that have already begun site preparations while others are continuing through the planning and permitting process.
The Skyline Long Plat, located at 6105 Vista Drive (the northwest corner of the intersection of Thornton Street and Vista Drive), has broken ground after demolishing a building on the property. It is expected to create 5 residential units in the form of 2 duplexes and 1 detached house.
Also having recently broke ground, the East Gate Planned Unit Development, located at 6170 Portal Way, proposes to bring a mix of business and residential properties.
According to documents provided by the City of Ferndale, the developer will be building up to 64 residential units in the form of 12 fourplexes and 8 duplexes along with two commercial spaces. The commercial spaces will be on the west perimeter of the property along Portal Way split by the entrance to the development.
There are a couple other residential developments in the works near Skyline Elementary School.
The Vista Springs Long Plat development, located at 6148 Vista Drive, on the east side of Vista Drive south of Lincoln Drive, is expected to create 8 residential units, all separate houses.
There is also the Chance McClellan Short Plat, located at 6116 Vista Drive, between the Vista Springs Long Plat and the city water reservoir. This development is expected to create a single residential house behind an existing one.
A larger development still in the planning stages is proposed to be located south of the intersection of Shannon Avenue and Ferndale Terrace. Current plans propose building 10 fourplexes on the property for a total of 40 units.
